An exhilarating musical escapade, Bobby McFerrin takes the stage with members of his new group Gimme5 to lead Circlesongs, a series of choral pieces based on grooves that are freshly composed each night.
Billed as a life-changing musical adventure, the concept showcases McFerrin’s exhilarating vocal vocabulary—call and response, global rhythms, soaring melodies, lush harmonies, funny noises, invented language, silence, prayers, and laughter—to remind us all of how much fun it is to be alive.
McFerrin has also enlisted the vocal talents of Calgary-based youth ensemble CADME Singers for this Jack Singer Concert Hall performance.
“I want to bring audiences into the incredible feeling of freedom that I get when I sing,” says McFerrin in a statement. “I want everyone to leave the theatre and sing in their own kitchens the next morning.”
