Consider our past and future through the powerful lens of the buffalo at Lougheed House. Join Dr. Leroy Little Bear and Harvey Locke, authors of The Last of the Buffalo Return to the Wild, as they share the moving story of the near extinction of millions of buffalo in the 19th century.

The conversation also touches on the recent Buffalo Treaty among many First Nations and Tribes of the Great Plains of Canada and Montana, and the Bison Belong movement that returned wild bison to Banff National Park in 2017.

Dr. Little Bear is a member of the Blood Tribe of the Blackfoot Confederacy, a former Director of Harvard University’s Native American program, and a recipient of the Canadian National Aboriginal Achievement Award in education. Locke is an award-winning conservationist, writer, photographer, recognized global leader in the field of parks, wilderness, large landscape conservation, and co-founder of the Yellowstone to Yukon Conservation Initiative.

Why Bison Belong in Banff and Southern Alberta takes place at 7:00pm on March 16, 2017 at Lougheed House (707 13th Ave. SW). Tickets are available on eventbrite.ca and are $10 for Lougheed House members and $12 for non members.
