Two tributes from eight notable Albertan improv troupes take the stage in this no-holds-barred, improv battle. Hosted by Calgary’s own Obviously Improv, this fundraiser takes a page from The Hunger Games.
Facing trials, tribulations, and interesting restrictions or advantages based on whether or not they meet the audience’s approval, performers compete for your laughter. Using special coins the audience can sponsor favourite teams, bestowing unique benefits for the next scene.
“The buzz at this event is incredible,” says Obviously Improv Artistic Director Laura Tennisco, in a statement. “This night showcases the excellent caliber of comedians Calgary has to offer, includes free hors d’oeuvres, and has a playful vibe that develops in intensity as the show progresses.”
Arrive early for hors d’oeuvres, photo booth fun, and access to an airbrush makeup artist for that Capitol look.
The 2017 Improv Games take place at 8:00pm on April 22, 2017 at Festival Hall (1215 10th Ave. SE). All funds raised go towards funding the company and arts education programs in Calgary. Doors open at 7:00pm. 18+ only.
