Ghost River offers delightful exploration of the unknown
Explore the electric connection between our senses and the imagination, and join Ghost River Theatre for a funny, delightful, and surprising experience tailored for these unexpected times.
SensoryBox takes blindfolded audiences on a tactile adventure as they uncover the mysterious contents of the box from the safety of their home or socially distanced in a theatre.
Guided by performer Mike Tan, each box is wrapped and delivered to your door. SensoryBox offers you an unboxing adventure through the tips of your fingers, focusing on the importance of play.
“It is our intention to celebrate and examine our relationship to touch at this particular moment in time. We are experimenting with how visceral touch can be in a live performance and through an online medium,” explains Ghost River Artistic Director Eric Rose in a statement.
The experience takes inspiration from this time of isolation and separation, and offers a sense of connectivity, discovery, and delight from afar. A hybrid-style production, audiences can experience the piece in-person at the theatre and or live online.
SensoryBox runs September 23 to 26 and October 1 to 3, 2020 on Vimeo and at West Village Theatre (2007 10th Ave. SW). Tickets are pay-what-you-can ($5, $25, $50, or $75 for your ticket) and boxes are $5 for pick up, $10 for delivery within Calgary, and $20 to ship within Canada. International shipping prices vary.
