SPARK Disability Art Festival
Calgary-wide celebration features creative self-expression by artists pan-disability

Each year In-Definite Arts and Studio C team up to present the 2016 SPARK Disability Art Festival—an amazing series of visual art exhibits that ignite the mind and spark the imagination.
This year’s festival runs November 28 to December 2 and includes five juried exhibitions, two satellite shows at the University of Calgary and a not-to-be-missed closing reception with three guest speakers. In total the festival features over 140 pieces of art in all mediums from Canadian artists pan-disability.
And that new partnership with the University of Calgary brings new art to the festival that explores ability, disability, and mental health. See student sculptures created under the theme of Adapt Ability Disability, as well as collaborative drawings created through partnered expression from U of C students and disabled artists from the In-Definite Arts Society . Both series of artworks will be featured together at the Little Gallery and Gallery 621, University of Calgary (6th Floor Arts Parkade, 2975 University Way NW) as Creative Growth. A reception is slated for November 30 from 4:00 to 6:00pm and all are welcome.
Then, make sure you attend the closing reception at In-Definite Arts (8038 Fairmount Dr. SE) from 6:00 to 8:00pm on December 2. Calgary artists Tony Goodison, Mary Salvani, and Shawn Belanger will be on hand to present keynote presentations on subjects relating to art, diversity, and disability.
