With a collection of popular hits from Broadway and Hollywood told through the tried-and-true classical lens of The Festival Chorus, No Business Like Show Business is a fun nod to film and musical theatre.

Selections for this concert have been chosen by the group’s artistic director, Mel Kirby.

“I felt it was the ideal time to pay homage to the significant wealth of choral music and arrangements we’ve heard in some of our favorite movie and musical hits. We’ll be singing favourites from 1920s Broadway to the film music of giants such as John Williams and Ennio Morricone. The chorus has been beyond excited as we prepare,” says Kirby in a statement.

The program features the seminal Broadway hit No Business, Like Show Business alongside selections from John Williams, Rodgers & Hammerstein, and Cole Porter!

The chorus and their accompanist, Cody Obst, are also joined by popular Calgary guest jazz musicians, saxophonist Gerry Hébert, percussionist Brent van Dusen, and bassist Stefano Valdo.
