One morning, a young boy named Peter opened his gate and walked out into the big green meadow that was beyond it…

Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra kicks off its Symphony Sunday For Kids with a beloved classic, Quest Theatre and Calgary’s own Mayor Naheed Nenshi. Created by Prokofiev to introduce children to the orchestra, Peter and the Wolf is a timeless favourite.

Symphony Sunday For Kids is a special series for children with hour-long concerts and interactive pre-concert sessions. The tale captivates listeners as each character is brought vividly to life by a different instrument.

“This is a fun concert where the instruments personify the characters in the stories and make it easy for kids to understand.” says CPO Resident Conductor Karl Hirzer, in a statement.

And make sure you go a bit early—starting at 2:00pm audiences can visit the Instrument Discovery Zoo where children can meet musicians and play real instruments.

Symphony Sundays For Kids: Peter and the Wolf takes place at 3:00pm October 16, 2016 at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium (1415 14th Ave. NW).
