IGNITE! Festival of Emerging Artists
Multidisciplinary lineup continues to shine light on Calgary’s rising art stars
Dedicated to supporting, mentoring, and presenting emerging artists of all disciplines, don’t miss this eclectic and exciting festival with theatre, dance, interdisciplinary, and site-specific offerings.
Hosted by Sage Theatre, IGNITE! has become a must-see event for many in the community. With a performance and a theatre series taking place at the Pumphouse Theatre, it’s the provocation series curated by Swallow-A-Bicycle Theatre that we’re most looking forward to.
Inviting artists to push creative boundaries and ask bold questions about art and society, swing by the Centennial Planetarium to experience surprising, disconcerting, and thought-provoking performances.
Each piece confronts uncomfortable truths and celebrates the resilience of artists who persist in the face of isolation, marginalization, and trauma. It’s your chance to experience 100 Years in the (Un)Making, For Love Sake, Ghost: Return to Mourning, Nobody, and The You Are Not Alone Monologues.
IGNITE! Festival of Emerging Artists takes place June 12 to 15, 2019 at the Pumphouse Theatre (2140 Pumphouse Ave. SW) and Contemporary Calgary, Centennial Planetarium (701 11th St. SW). Visit sagetheatre.com for the full schedule.
