Walking Phoenix
AVALANCHE! hosts one last show in gallery space
- Location: AVALANCHE! Institute of Contemporary Art Upper level, 343 11th Ave. SW
- Price: Free
After four and a half years of operating a gallery, shop, and studio, AVALANCHE! Institute of Contemporary Art is shifting focus and hosting its final show in its gallery space.
Aptly dubbed Walking Phoenix, the final exhibition features work from Sylvain Beaudry, Carlin Brown, Kuh Del Rosario, Julien Fournier, Heather Huston, Julia Kansas, Omar Lalani, Russell Leng, Kris Lindskoog, Matthew Mark, Gary McMillan, Kent Merriman Jr., Yvonne Mullock, Jeremy Pavka, Perfect Uncle, Ryan Statz, Jesse Stilwell, and Sarah Van Sloten.
The closing of the space allows AVALANCHE! ICA to move toward a more flexible platform in order to focus on other projects. It also plans to maintain its online shop and intermittently program an ongoing series of special projects. Since 2012, AVALANCHE! ICA has exhibited the work of more than 40 artists from across Canada and this show gives the public one last chance to celebrate in this quaint space.
Attend the opening reception at 8:00pm on September 30, 2016, to see a one-night-only performance by Perfect Uncle (Shawn Mankowske, Palmer Olson, Ryan Scott, Ryan Statz) and the launch of a new t-shirt designed by Collin Brown. The gallery is open Saturdays from 12:00 to 5:00pm or by appointment.
Walking Phoenix runs September 30 to November 6, 2016 at AVALANCHE! Institute of Contemporary Art (Upper level, 343 11th Ave. SW).
