It’s the perfect weekend to get out and explore as Jane’s Walk returns. With three days of free, locally-led walking tours inspired by urban activist Jane Jacobs, everyone is encouraged to celebrate their neighbourhood.
Each tour is a walking conversation and can be on almost any aspect of a neighbourhood, on almost any topic you can think of. Jane’s Walk Calgary has been an initiative of Calgary Foundation since 2008 and is presented in partnership with Jane’s Walk International.

The cREative Realm

Beltline through the Eyes of Writers

The Beltline has been a literary hub since Annie Davidson’s book club met there in 1906. Since then, the neighbourhood has been home to several prominent writers, welcomed famous literary visitors, and found its way onto the page. Join Calgary author Shaun Hunter and special guests for a walk around the Beltline through the eyes of writers.

Calgary Stampede Public Art Walk

Join Stampede volunteers for this guided tour that takes art lovers on a tour of Stampede Park, a year-round gathering place for the community. The two-hour program ends with a Q&A session with internationally recognized Rainbow Trout artist Jeff de Boer, facilitated by gallery owner Jarvis Hall.

Sunnyside Garage Art Tour

Garage art has started popping up in Sunnyside alleyways so go on a tour of garage doors that have been converted from boring beige to the homeowner’s colourful expressions. Stroll through Sunnyside’s eclectic alleys and discuss the role of place-making using art in the overlooked and underappreciated alleyway.

10-Minute Plays for Jane’s Walk

10-Minute Plays for Jane’s Walk is a free walking tour through downtown Calgary that features six 10-minute plays along the way. Each play highlights different performance styles, including music, theatre, poetry, stilt acro performance, and comedy while focusing on what’s at the “core” of being Calgarian.
