Directed by Johnny Summers, join the Calgary Jazz Orchestra as it presents the music of Louis Armstrong and Maria Schneider. These two juxtaposing concerts feature music that will have you grinning cheek to cheek.
Featuring some of Calgary’s top professional musicians, including JUNO nominees, Global Music Award winners, TD Grand Jazz Award winners, WCMA Heritage Award nominees, and AMPIA Award nominees, here’s your chance to win tickets to see this band.
While it seems that everyone has heard of Louis Armstrong, many may not be as familiar with the works of Maria Schneider.
“All musicians love Maria’s music… it’s uncanny really! The beauty, sophistication, and power of her music makes Maria another one of my heroes,” says Summers in a statement. “I was fortunate to study with her when the CJO performed with her in 2012, and she continues to create structure and guidance to my writing and arranging.”
The concert takes place at 7:00pm on April 28, 2019 at River Park Church (3818 14A St. SW).
