Alberta Ballet launches 50th anniversary season with Canadian premiere

Known for its innovative shadow work, acrobatic dance and high-energy, fast-paced multimedia, Pilobolus Dance Theater is bringing Shadowland to Calgary. Alberta Ballet kicks off its 50th anniversary season with this Canadian premiere.
Part shadow act, part dance, part circus and part concert, the show was conceived in collaboration with Steven Banks, lead writer for SpongeBob SquarePants, and features an original score by producer and film composer David Poe.
“This ensemble has created over 120 critically acclaimed dances disseminating our beloved art form to every corner of the world,” says Alberta Ballet Artistic Director Jean Grand-Maître, in a statement. “After being seen by more than one million spectators around the globe, we are proud to finally present Shadowland to Canadians for the very first time.”
