UCalgary’s School of Creative and Performing Arts launches music season

- Price: $18 - $25
When you think of Wild Rose Country wind can often spring to mind. But, did you know, woodwind concerts are not very common here?
Hoping to rectify that are Christopher Sales, Erin Fung, Sara Hahn, Jean Landa, Laurie Matiation, and Rolf Bertsch. They are kicking off the music season at the University of Calgary’s School of Creative and Performing Arts September 17, 2016 with And There a Rose, a Great Wind.
This newly formed ensemble wants to use the concert to highlight the sounds that can be generated with wind instruments. The concert features a series of unique interludes including the Sonata for Wind Quartet No. 1 in F Major from Italian composer Gioachino Rossini and an innovative arrangement of Brahms’ Piano Quintet in F Minor.
And There a Rose, a Great Wind takes place on September 17, 2016 at 8:00pm in the Eckhardt-Gramatté Hall, Rozsa Centre, University of Calgary (206 University Court NW). Tickets are $25 for adults, $18 for seniors and students and are available at scpa.ucalgary.ca or at the door.
