Giant
Ghost River Theatre’s new production kicks off the Festival of Animated Objects
- Location: The GRAND (608 1st St. SW)
- Price: $35.25 - $39.50
A new show of epic proportions, Ghost River Theatre shares the amazing story of professional wrestler André the Giant, told from the perspective of the one person he left behind.
André René Roussimoff was one of the most recognizable and beloved public figures ever. Packed with captivating imagery, animated objects, and the raw spectacle of a wrestling match, a cast of five women take audiences though this boisterous alternative to the traditional bio-pic.
Written by David van Belle and Eric Rose, Giant brings its audience ringside to discover the details of this giant-sized life.
“Casting and staging André the Giant at 7’4″ 520-pounds would be an impossible task in a film or television setting, which in our new production Giant becomes a provocation for the exciting possibilities of theatrical representation,” says Rose in a statement. “At Ghost River Theatre we love to tackle the impossible and offer a new perspective of stories we think we already know.”
Giant runs March 12 to 24, 2019 at The GRAND (608 1st St. SW) and is part of the Festival of Animated Objects, running March 13 to 17, 2019.
