An annual family-friendly light, art, and music festival in the heart of our city, spend your evenings exploring one-of-a-kind light installations, projections, and so much more with Downtown Calgary’s glow.

Animating Calgary in the middle of our coldest month, head downtown from 5:00 to 11:00pm to find interactive light art commissioned from local, national, and international talent, theatrical experiences, music, and food trucks.

“We’re working to create an experience that has the potential to bring thousands into our downtown core on an annual basis,” says Marco De Iaco, Executive Director of the Calgary Downtown Association, in a statement. “Our vision is to grow this festival significantly over the next few years and build it into an iconic and hallmark winter-event that Calgarians, visitors and local businesses will all embrace.”

It all kicks off on February 14 at Olympic Plaza (228 8th Ave. SE) as the Valentine’s Day themed Love Lights invites you to take part in a large-scale light installation. Each night of the festival features a special theme including an all-ages light dance party Bassbus Nightlight, live music from some Calgary favourites such as Michael Bernard Fitzgerald, JJ Shiplett, Static Shift, and Brad Saunders, and a family skating party.

glow’s only ticketed event, Make Fashion, brings together high tech and high fashion, on February 15 at Brookfield Place (225 6th Ave SW).

glow runs February 14 to 18, 2019 throughout the downtown core. Head to experienceglow.ca for the full schedule.
