Full of innovative works and amazing examples of creativity, PARTICLE + WAVE Media Arts Festival returns for its fifth year with another stellar lineup.
Presented by EMMEDIA, this unique three-day festival celebrates the critical innovation and creativity present in the media arts community. An art form that by its very nature is always evolving, this festival highlights the integration of ever-changing technological processes.
This year’s festival includes screenings, installations, and live performances by local, national, and international artists:

Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers Flex Space (100, 1725 10th Ave. SW)
Free admission
Featuring works by APOTROPIA, Alex Ateah, T. Becker, FOONYAP, Patrick Jenkins, Marianna Mihorat, Carol Nguyen, Eileen O’Meara, and Hiroya Sakurai, these 10 short films explore the human connection through visual poetry, archive footage, personal memories, and a sex hotline.

a quiet flamenco Opening Reception

Rosanna Terracciano’s a quiet flamenco exposes the introverted and vulnerable aspects of flamenco dance through interlapping, contrasting, complementing, and experimenting works in sound and film. An immersive sensory experience, explore it at this opening reception that includes a durational performance at 8:00pm.

An installation exploring the insidious corruptibility of our material and personal relationships through the internet, Nick Heer and Alex Moon explore how the desire of connecting to each other is driving us apart. Get a taste of what this festival has to offer with performances by ev/jv (Evelyn Delgado and Jeff Read), Manufacturing Entertainment (Julie Gendron and Emma Hendrix), and SNLPNTR (Kaely Dekker). There’s even an interactive installation by Quartet in Transit (Jack Michielsen and Teresa Tam).
