Alberta Theatre Projects teams up with The Shakespeare Company and Hit & Myth Productions to turn Shakespeare’s beloved tragedy on its head.

Tom Stoppard’s dark, witty, and Tony Award-winning comedy is set against the backdrop of Hamlet. Following the hilarious antics of two minor characters, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern played by Myla Southward and Julie Orton, as the two question their place in the story and their inevitable fate.

“We’re thrilled to be embarking on a new partnership with ATP. Their history of producing inventive, contemporary theatre makes this partnership a natural fit,” says The Shakespeare Company’s Artistic Producer Haysam Kadri, in a statement. “Orton and Southward are the perfect compliment to portray Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. They have a chemistry on stage that makes their take on these to characters uniquely hilarious and a joy to watch.”

The show also launches The Shakespeare Company’s all-Hamlet season, Madness in Great Ones.

Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead runs from October 9 to 21, 2018 at the Martha Cohen Theatre, Arts Commons (215 8th Ave. SE). The show contains scenes of comic violence and mature subject matter, and is suggested for ages 14+.
