Featuring Lucrecia Martel’s long awaited cinematic return, Calgary Cinematheque concludes its Contemporary World Cinema series with Zama.

Showcasing the best films from around the world made by rising masters and established auteurs, the series offers a rare chance to view critically acclaimed works by directors who are pushing the boundaries of cinema.

In the late 18th century, an officer of the Spanish crown posted in a remote coastal colony, Don Diego de Zama finds his mind beginning to unravel from the heat, his lust, and the threat of a legendary bandit. A film where reality, myth, and dreams collide, Zama brings Martel’s unique contemporary cinematic voice to this colonial narrative.

Zama screens at 7:00pm on March 22, 2018 at the Globe Cinema (617 8th Ave. SW). Presented in Spanish with English subtitles, advance tickets and memberships can be found at calgarycinema.org.
