An evening of music with Order of Canada recipient and trumpet soloist, Jens Lindemann, and world-renowned percussionist, Gilad Dobrecky, join the National Music Centre for this cross-cultural exploration.

Sharing a wide range of traditions and contemporary expressions of the Jewish-Canadian experience through music, each of the artists featured come from various geographical backgrounds.

And to celebrate the launch of this cross-cultural music series, visitors can also enjoy free youth-focused performances and education workshops throughout the day with Persian santur player Amir Amiri and Juno-nominated performer Carl Berger.

“Music can bridge cultural barriers and be used as an effective tool for education,” says NMC’s Director of Programs Adam Fox, in a statement. “The National Music Centre is excited to pilot this program and welcome members of various cultural communities in Calgary and Canada to learn about, and share, their musical history and practices.”

Crossroads: An Evening with Jens Lindemann and Gilad Dobrecky takes place at 7:30pm on January 25, 2018 in the Performance Hall at Studio Bell, home of the National Music Centre (850 4th St. SE). Tickets for the evening program are $30 and can be found at studiobell.ca.
