“When I pitched the play to Vertigo’s board and staff, I said it was because the play was often cited as an all-time favourite by many of our most loyal patrons. I talked about how Vertigo was one of the first companies in Canada to produce the play, and how despite it being a risky show for Vertigo at the time due to its high concept staging, it played to sold-out house,” says Vertigo Theatre Artistic Director Craig Hall, in a statement. “Want to know a secret? I programmed The 39 Steps mostly because I’ve never had a chance to see it.”
