Showcasing films where the landscape could be considered a character in itself, join Calgary Cinematheque as it continues its Focus Series with Terrence Malick’s crime classic, Badlands.

Inspired by real-life killers Charles Starkweather and Caril-Ann Fugate, Badlands follows Holly (played by Sissy Spacek) as she starts dating a young, troubled greaser named Kit (played by Martin Sheen). After killing her father (played by Warren Oates) and burning down the house, the pair go on the run with the aim to make their way towards the badlands of Montana.

Called a ferociously American film by the critics, it was was selected for preservation by the Library of Congress for being culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.

Badlands screens at 7:00pm on October 26, 2017 at The Plaza Theatre (1133 Kensington Rd. NW). Advance tickets and memberships can be found at calgarycinema.org.
