In 1997, Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers acquired a library of over 2,500 16mm films from the Calgary Public Library and regularly screen them for the public. But there’s a catch—each time the film is kept a secret until the credits roll.

Including cult classics, animations, shorts, and documentaries, once every month, a local Calgary curator is asked to choose a film to screen but due to copyright reasons, the title cannot be disclosed in advance. This month, Marda Loop Justice Film Festival’s Shanika Abeysinghe takes on curation. The Marda Loop Justice Film Festival focuses on human rights as well as environmentally and socially concerned film and art.

The screening takes place at 8:00pm on September 21, 2017 at CSIF’s screening room (100, 1725 10th Ave. SW). Admission is by donation and space is limited, so make sure you reserve your spot at eventbrite.ca. Tickets will be available at the door as well.
